Event and change

I came to Canada this summer, which is a really big event that changed me a lot. I determined to come to Canada for summer school at the very beginning of 2011. My sister and parents helped me to find and apply to a summer school. I changed my idea and wanted to stay only two weeks before the ending of the summer school. It changed me and it changed my whole family as well. My parents encouraged me to go to a school in Canada and go to a university in North America after that, even if they were a little sad about “losing” me. Maybe I can’t stay beside my mom and dad in the next years. It’s totally different being in Canada from when I was in China.
I just finished my final exam three days before I got on the flight to Canada. Studying in China isn’t easy work but it’s quite fun to figure out those maths and science questions. My dad or mom cooked meals for the family and sometimes we also went out for dinner as well. I could always be around my dad and mom and they could help me with my studying, although it was getting harder and harder because I was always improving. For myself, I think I was a little shy boy at that time and all my classmates agreed. In addition, I wasn’t so good at sports at that time.
Life in Canada is totally different. School is much easier and more relaxed. After a six-week summer school period, I became more expressive and became better at sports. After that, I came to Uplands. Uplands is more like a summer school instead of a formal school to me. We only have four lessons each day although each lesson lasts a little longer. Meanwhile, I really miss mom and dad. I was able to see them every day when I was in China. They really miss me as well. We often video talk on MSN and QQ, which helps us keep connected. Now, I can see my homestay parents every day. In my opinion, this situation can make me more independent. I think I’m going to show a different me to my mom and dad when I go back to China.

Admire and be different

In my opinion, my dad and mom are brilliant parents. They are efficient, responsible and expressive.
For instance, my dad is able to decide a travel plan in a few hours. Also, he always finishes his work on time and his work is always full of quality. My mom can make awesome power point documents that are helpful for her teaching.
What’s more, mom and dad are both responsible, not only for their child but also for their work. Mom’s and dad’s colleagues think that I’m well educated and I’m a good student. It absolutely shows that they are responsible to me. They also pay lots of efforts to their work, which makes their work always well done. They also show their responsibility to society, which I really admire. They donate money to poor people. They show their love in many ways!
Also, mom and dad are expressive, both in their speaking and writing. My Chinese writing is really terrible. I have never done an essay that is considered as a good essay among my classmates’. Consequently, I really admire that my dad and mom are able to write such brilliant articles. Dad and mom are also good at giving speeches and that they are calm when facing hundreds of people. I already feel nervous when I’m in front of my class.
They are successful as a result of hard work. It’s too hard for them to relax and be carefree. While I admire them, I don’t want to be as busy as they are in the future.

Zodiac

I am analytical. My mom said that I thought everything by using logic. This trait is also be proved by the test I did in planning class. I can also make my arguments very well during the Balloon Debate.
I’m overcritical. In instance, I always want to make pieces in the same shape when I’m cutting something. I won’t feel comfortable if those pieces don’t follow my mind.
I’m diligent. I think I have the ability to control myself. For example, I did really well in the final exam for junior high school so I got an opportunity to go to a good high school.
I am not modest. I’d like to show off my skill and something else. That’s not good. So I’d like to change it.
I am not seemingly shy. Actually, I think I’m still pretend to be expressive. I’m still essentially nervous when I’m giving a speech in front of people.

Sacrifice

I had a better relationship with my dad compared to the relationship with my mom when I was an 8-year-old boy.

My mom told me how it happened.

There was a quotation from my dad, “I’m famous for taking good care of my son.”

My mom told me that she was always cooking at home while my dad was taking me around the residence. Finally, everyone knew that my dad was an awesome dad and no one noticed my mom’s effort including me.

It is quite a bit easier to take his or her child outside compared to cooking so many delicious foods. It was also really sad that she hadn’t been acknowledged as a brilliant mom after paying so much effort. It is also very disappointing that her son complained, “it’s not delicious enough.” Or even worse, “It’s not delicious at all!”

What my mom did was absolutely a sacrifice. How evil and stupid I was.

Mom, I love you!

Balloon Debate

My name is Joseph Stalin. I absolutely need to be alive. I can count 4 reasons easily right now.

Firstly, I’m a hero. How many of you guys can say “I’m a hero” loudly and with strong confidence. I can’t die just because of a small accident on a hot balloon. It can’t be the way a hero dies!

Secondly, the Soviet Union, which is the biggest country in the world, will be full of turmoil because of my death. The USSR is still developing and I need to lead it to overcome western countries. You will be the enemy of all Soviet people if you don’t let me live. You can imagine your condition if you become the foe of millions of people.

Thirdly, how can we fight against the Nazis if I’m dead? You can’t depend on France which has already been defeated. Britain is not powerful enough. America is on another continent. Trust me, we can’t win the warfare without the Soviets. The USSR can’t be powerful enough without Joseph Stalin. Killing me would mean that you connive Nazi Germany to implement as many massacres as they want. You will be known as antihuman.

And as you know, I have a powerful special force. I’m not sure whether Bruce Lee is able to survive with his forceful kungfu if he becomes the target of the special force.

So, be careful! You will be not only be spit on by people all over the world but also killed by my special force. Eventually, you will lose everything if you kill me now.

QUOTATION

Necessity is the mother of taking chances.

In my opinion, the quote means that we have to prepare for those opportunities we’d like to obtain.

For instance, I won’t just pray “god, give me good grades, please” if I want to do well in my examinations. I have to do something useful. I have to go to school, work on my essays and other courses.

I’m following the quote these days. I was considering why everyone is so tall when I was walking through UVic. So I tried to find some methods to be taller. The only way I was able to implement is jumping and hanging up.

I know that it may not work at all but I need to work on the necessity, so there will be a possibility that I can take chances to be taller.

Just make as many efforts as I can and wait for opportunities at the same time.
