Movie review:“Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”

We saw the movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” last week. It told us Ferris Bueller’s wonderful day together with his girlfriend Sloane and his best friend Cameron. The Chinese name of this movie means “spring isn’t a study day”. I think it’s a fantastic translation.

Once, it is a normal and boring school day when Ferris pretends to be sick in order to skip school. He convinces Cameron to join him and lend him his father’s Ferrari car which is not allowed to use. And then he uses an expedient way to let Sloane skip school.

Their trip begins.

They arrive in downtown Chicago and park the car.  They go to an exclusive restaurant by pretending Ferris is the sausage king of Chicago. They also go to a baseball game and an art gallery. At last, there is a big celebration on the main road of Chicago. There is a group of floats and everyone is excited. No one knows how Ferris can get on those floats and sing some incredible songs and everybody follows him.

Meanwhile, his teacher Rooney is trying to find Ferris at his home. But he is so unfortunate, he gets stuck in the mud, chased by their dog, and even mistake thought as a robber by Ferris’s sister Jeanie. Jeanie kicks him and calls the police to catch him up. He’s a disgusting man with horrible smell when he bumps into the school bus. It’s a really shame day for Rooney.

How is Jeanie? She is so mad with Ferris that he can skip the day easily and still be known as a good boy. She just wants to stop everything what’s happening and prove that Ferris isn’t a good student.

Everyone’s characteristic is quite different from each others in the movie.

Ferris is adventurous and clever. He’s the designer of the day.

I’d like to talk more about Cameron. He changes a lot during the day. He’s worried about everything, he’s worried about that the school will know that he’s skipping the school, he worries about the car, he worries how his dad is going to deal with him. As I just mentioned, they park the brilliant car in downtown Chicago. But the valets just drive the car for recreation. So the odometer miles go over what they were. He doesn’t know how mad his father will be. We are able to know that Cameron’s father only cares about his car and all his property instead of Cameron and his mom. Cameron find that he needs to be brave and tells his dad what’s important. He says to Ferris, “It’s the best day in my life!” He kicks the car and it’s ruined at last. So he doesn’t need to worry about how many miles it goes anymore. The movie doesn’t show the result, but I think Cameron’s family as well as himself will change a lot.

I haven’t found anything I don’t like in the movie so far. It’s not spectacular as “Avatar”, but I think the plot is awesome.
I will give 95 out of 100 to “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”. I like the plot, but I think it might be little fictional. If I was the director, I would make it closer to our real life so that it could be more educational.
